Dear residents of Little Burton Farm,
Norman Ayres has decided to retire and has asked me to stand in his place as your Conservative candidate.
As you are aware, he has been an outstanding councillor. Norman and I have worked together for some years for the benefit of the borough- chiefly for Kennington- as I have been the councillor for the neighbouring ward of Bybrook for the past 12 years.
I am sure that I will get to meet all of you and hope that I can count on a continuance of the great support you have given Norman.
I have been a loyal, committed and effective councillor in the borough of Ashford on behalf of the local people for many years.
After beginning my career in local politics in the 1960´s whilst living in Faversham, I moved with my family, to the borough in 1969. I was first a parish councillor in Chillham, before becoming a borough councillor for Kennington Lees Ward. Having taken some time off to bring up my family and work, I have been a passionate councillor for the Bybrook ward for the past 12 years.
I now live in Ashford and can be in Little Burton Farm within 10 minutes
Being a wife and mother, has helped me to appreciate and understand the challenges of Bybrook residents all the more, as I have like them, lived through the ups and downs of every day life, and has been able therefore to sympathise with many of their every day difficulties and issues. Over the past 12 years I have come to know Kennington well and love the area and its people – both are very close to my heart
Having always been interested in national and local politics, I feel that being a local councillor is first and foremost about local issues – and as such, I will always prioritize the issues and challenges of all those in my ward
The change of government means that we can halt the massive growth plans and concentrate on “Localism” I know that what locals want is important and I will continue to listen to local needs
“The Big society” means that you as local people will have more opportunity to decide what happens in your community – that is “localism” at its best and is something I applaud loudly.”
I will never promise to be successful in everything that I do on the council but you have my assurance that I will always continue to answer your call or query within 24 hours.
If I am unable to help, I will not only find the person who can, but will continue to battle for success on every local issues that you bring to me.
It is my intention to continue the quarterly newsletter and the regular walkabouts in the ward, and I am looking forward to meeting you all personally within the next few weeks- I hope that you will feel inclined to share your views with me.
Sincerely yours,
Marion Martin
