Ashford's First World War Mark IV tank has stood proudly in our town centre for more than 100 years. It was gifted directly to the people of Ashford in 1919 as a lasting thank you for the town's outstanding contribution to the Great War.
There are now talks that this important piece of our local heritage could be moved to The Tank Museum in Dorset. We believe the tank belongs here - in Ashford - where it was given and where it has become a proud symbol of our history and sacrifice.
Even if restoration work is needed, many residents feel it should be sent to Dorset only on the clear understanding that it returns home to Ashford afterwards.
Conservative councillor Peter Feacey raised an important question at full council and asked the Leader of Ashford Borough Council to commit to a full public consultation before any decision is made. Now it's your turn to make your voice heard.
Please take a moment to complete the short survey below. Your views will help us fight to keep Ashford's tank where it belongs.
