July’s Ashford Famers’ Market is going to be an extra special event because we are delighted to be celebrating our third birthday!
Our birthday bash will be held on Sunday 2nd July from 10am to 2pm on the Lower High Street. It will have everything from homemade delights by our much-loved traders to music and entertainment from local artists, plus two fabulous competitions, and of course some birthday cake!
Deputy Mayor of Ashford, Cllr Jessamy Blanford, will be starting the birthday celebrations by cutting our specially made birthday cake at 10.30am. The three-tier cake has been created by local trader Ble Couture and features a handmade, sugarcraft basket of fruit and vegetables. Make sure you pick up your free piece of birthday cake as we hand out slices to visitors on the day.
A host of traders will be joining in the celebrations for our special birthday market, adding to our huge offering of sweet and savoury treats. Pick up some refreshing cider from Gibbet Oak Cider, a sweet treat from Quirky Truffles or some international delights from The French Delicatessen.
What’s more, we have Ritoweg Farm and Stour Valley Game who specialise in delicious exotic meats, as well as Ques Smokehouse who will be promoting their new restaurant (located in Bank Street) by handing out free samples from their menu.
There will also be a selection of delicious street food on offer to tempt visitors. Pick up some hearty soul snacks from Jays Soul Food, or treat yourself to a fresh waffle with your choice of topping and sauce from The Coffee & Waffle Wagon.
But that’s not all; we have not one, but two fabulous competitions running on the day. Firstly, visitors have the chance to win the top tier of our birthday cake. To enter, head over to the birthday cake stall and think of a great reason why you deserve to take the top tier home. We will take your photo with the cake and upload it to the Ashford Farmers’ Market Facebook page with your caption. The winner will be revealed by the Farmers’ Market Manager at the end of the day.
In our second competition, you can bag yourself some high street shopping vouchers. Simply head over to the LoveAshford gazebo and sign up to Loveashford.com to be entered in the prize draw. It’s also a chance for you to find out about town centre news and updates and pick up a free Heritage Trail leaflet.
If you’re in the mood for a cuppa The Little Teapot will be helping us hand out free cups of tea to visitors on the day. Bistro tables and chairs will also be set up in the high streets for people to relax, soak up the sunshine and enjoy their food and drink.
As you enjoy your treats and meander through the town, soak up the atmosphere by listening to DJ Gideon who will be playing classic 50’s and 60’s hits, as well as Miss Holiday Swing who will be performing jazzy tunes on the day.
Don’t forget there’s free parking all day in Edinburgh Road car park.
See you Sunday!
