If voting in person at your local polling station is not convenient for you, you can choose to vote by post. Last year the way we register to vote in England, Scotland and Wales changed, and if you want to vote by post or by proxy you must be registered under the new system. To check if you’re correctly registered, contact the local authority of the address you are registered to. To find their contact details, enter the relevant postcode in the ‘Your local area’ box. Postal votes can be sent overseas, but you need to consider whether there will be enough time to receive and return your ballot paper by election day.
