Borough Councillors

Paul Bartlett - Weald East

Paul has been representing the villages of Kingsnorth and Mersham on Ashford Borough Council for the past four years.  Before that Paul represented Mersham, Smeeth and Sevington and has now been on the Council for 12 years.  Paul was Leader of the Council in 2010.

Clair Bell - Weald Central

Clair has represented the rural ward of Weald Central since 2007 during which time she has been a strong voice for residents and local businesses.  She works closely with parish councils to promote local needs homes in the villages and ensure that as far as possible development in the countryside is appropriate and in accordance with residents’ wishes.

Neil Bell - Biddenden

Neil has been the ward member for Biddenden for over 20 years and is Deputy Leader of Ashford Borough Council.

Mike Bennett - Rolvenden and Tenterden West

I am a recently retired journalist probably best known for my time as editor of the Kentish Express newspaper. I have lived in Tenterden since the late 1950’s and seen many changes over the decades. What has remained constant is my passion to keep both the town and surrounding villages special. That does mean some carefully controlled expansion to meet the needs of all.

Andrew Buchanan - Bybrook

I am 40 years old and have lived in Kent for over 10 years. I currently live in Ashford town centre, for the previous ten years I lived in Pluckley where I was on the Parish Council for a number of years and have built up quite a lot of experience in budget and housing / planning issues as well as being very active in local fundraising.
